What Is Zizania?
茭白
Zizania is part of the wild rice family. It is native to both China and North America. However unlike most rice plants where the grain is used for consumption, the zizania or 茭白 is only the stem part of the wild rice so the grain is not used. The health benefits of eating this vegetable include but not limited to protection against cardiovascular diseases and metabolic diseases. It also has powerful antioxidants and lipid-lowering properties.
